• Samir Kassir

  Columnist in the Lebanese daily An Nahar and contemporary history professor at the St Joseph University. He published: La Guerre du Liban (Karthala, 1994); Histoire de Beyrouth (Fayard, 2003); Considérations sur le malheur arabe (Actes Sud / Sindbad, 2004), and with the collaboration of Farouk Mardam-Bey, Itinéraires de Paris à Jéusalem - La France et le conflit israélo-arabe (2 volumes, Institut des études palestiniennes, 1992-1993). He was assassinated on the 2nd of June 2005 in a car bomb in Beirut.

  Editor in chief at Le Monde, made several reports on the Middle East. He lived in Israel for twelve years. Author of "Les Emmurés, La Découverte, Paris, 2005 ; 2006".

• Mahmoud Darwich

  Contemporary Palestinian poet and writer of prose. He has published over thirty volumes of poetry, eight books of prose and has served as the editor of several publications.
